This is a collection of videos, photos, and a handful of written pieces from my experience in the Holyland, living and working with The Tiziano Project in Israel and the West Bank. My roll was as a student mentor in video journalism, and to create a series of pieces about the region. Later that year, our team was nominated for an American Giving Award for our work in community journalism.

Jerusalem in 60 Seconds

When I was researching for the following piece, I came across several long and boring videos on the long history of old Jerusalem, and I decided that I didn’t want to add to that pool. This is a glimpse of one of the holiest cities on Earth, un-boringly presented in just 60 seconds. Before you begin, I should mention that the inherit brevity implied by this video’s concept reduces a whole lot of history into a few winded soundbites. Welcome to Jerusalem. Try not to blink.

Video Portrait | The West Bank

Upworthy said that “this is the only video you’ll ever need to derail that awkward Mideast political conversation you can’t deal with.” While I’d love to believe that, I think it’s safer to temper expectations and refer to it as a glimpse at the West Bank, filmed between Ramallah and Bethlehem.

Video Portrait | West Jerusalem

West Jerusalem is a sociopolitical term referring to the part of Jerusalem that is mainly Jewish in population – the other half, East Jerusalem, being comprised mostly by Palestinian Arabs. Close friends may have heard the story of a unique souvenir I acquired while shooting this video – a grenade pin I’ve been using as a keychain. The crazy bits at the end of this video are where I got that from.

Art On The Seam

This is the first 30 seconds of a longer look at the artwork along the wall in the West Bank. This controversial canvas and politically sensitive barrier has attracted the attention of many international street artists over the last few years, such as Banksy, Blu, JR, Faile, Conor Harrington, and most recently my good friend, Shai Dahan.
